Le Haricot

Been meaning to write this review for a long time so here it is words cannot describe how much we love this place! We had our first meal here in December and since then we have planned to book a table at least once a month. Every single thing about Le Haricot deserves the highest praise. From the incredible food, to the chilled atmosphere, and the fantastically personal service from Sunny and Pete. One of the things we love most is how the menu is always changing (although if they ever take the ox cheek cottage pie off the menu I may have to stage a protest). We’ve been able to try something new every time we’ve been, which is especially good since everything Pete makes tastes otherworldly… I’m pretty sure I dreamt about that cottage pie last night… apart from that, it would genuinely be impossible to pick a favourite dish. We’ve had pork belly cassoulet, duck cassoulet, French onion soup, baked Camembert, steak frites, onglet steak (probably my new favourite cut of steak), ox cheek, the ox cheek cottage pie, burnt basque cheesecake (begging for this one again), tarte tatin, a couple of different iterations of the trio of desserts, a fabulous cake for my dads birthday meal, and a selection of some wonderful cocktails too. Sunny does an absolutely incredible job running the front-of-house, and creating the lovely chilled atmosphere that the restaurant has. We always know we’ll receive a friendly greeting and be able to chat and laugh and joke about things (side eyeing the vegetarian debacle ) You will genuinely struggle to find people who come close to Sunny and Pete. If you haven’t already been to Le Haricot, I suggest you drop EVERYTHING and get booked in. As I said to them yesterday, every other restaurant has been ruined for me now. The last time I went out for a meal all I could think was “yeah it’s good but it’s not Le Haricot”.

Very much enjoyed the food here. The steak frites were cooked to perfection. Honestly a very welcome addition to Hillsborough. As Neen Williams would say about his food, "Not a damn chance!"

i was here in the morning for breakfast, good place, easy to find, very friendly staff and the portion was also just enough for breakfast. nice decoration as well!

Went here on Friday evening on the recommendation of our daughter We were not disappointed. A little gem of a restaurant, great food and great service.

First time we have been and we will certainly be back. We did the steak night deal which was excellent value. Steak were delicious and the wine was a really nice accompaniment. Service was fantastic and our waiter was really friendly and chatty.

One of our favourite spots in Hillsborough. We are so lucky to have such a fantastic French bistro on our doorstep. The food, service and atmosphere never disappoints. The evening menu changes regularly and the food is always incredible. Also worth visiting for their great coffee and brunch options during the day.

Great evening at Le Haricot. The steak frites smashed it out the park the guys running the place were super cool. Wine was delicious and reasonably priced too. Look forward to returning when the place is in cafe mode for coffee and croissants.
